The call for either Santorum or Gingrich to withdraw is based on the idea that if one of them withdraws the voters who support either of them will go to Romney.

I think that is a false assumption.

If either Santorum or Gingrich withdrew-------I tend to believe that politically would help the one that is remaining, either Santorum or Gingrich-------it would not help Romney.

That brings me to this thought-------question------if Santorum or Gingrich is the nominee for President would Romney be willing to accept the Vice Presidency on the ticket?

That seems like a good position for Romney as he could get down to the nitty gritty work that needs to be done to get the financial mess of Obama's cadre straightened out. With success that would put him in the position to be President in 2016.

If I were talking to Romney this is what I would say. If you want to be the President, then backoff of criticizing the candidates who represent about 60% of the Republican Party. By doing so you are criticizing a major portion of the Republican Party.

Also to Romney, if you want to be the President, then you need to understand that you must have a VP who represents the positions of the 60% of the Republican Party who did not vote for you in the Primaries------- a quasi liberal VP is not acceptable.

I agree.

His supporters have spent a bundle to take down Santorum and Gingrich. Yet, there are some 300 delegates out there he could not get in spite of his negative advertising outlays.

I still see him winning the GOP nod yet there still are some high delegate count states left to vote.
