3/23/12 Contest Update Thanks to the Mitt Romney campaign team, for my stock market metaphor this week I can use the “Etch A Sketch.” So it was one of those Etch A Sketch market weeks, with bad news wiping out good news and vice versa, leaving most stocks pretty much unchanged. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 22.99% YTD (vs. up 21.59% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 16.66% YTD (vs. up 15.72% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 17.76% YTD (vs. up 17.28% YTD a week ago). It was AFFY to the max for BIOJIM’s portfolio, which vaulted into the Contest lead with a 50.85% YTD gain. DON’s’s portfolio, with a not-too-shabby 48.86% YTD gain, slipped back to second place and NP1986's portfolio, up 35.37% edged past SCARAM’s portfolio, up 35.32% YTD, to take third place. At Friday's close, all 38 Contest portfolios were still in the black, with 29 of the 38 portfolios beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
