I noticed no one in this contest had the biggest losing stock in my portfolio this week – Targacept. But at least I only had short five dollar put positions. That positioning is now being challenged however with the stock just above that level. With all the cash on the balance sheet however I feel fairly comfortable with this one at least for short periods of time. Good job by everyone in the contest. I thought I was doing pretty well and I am nowhere near the top 10 list. Good luck everyone! Jon

3/30/12 Contest Update For the First Quarter of 2012, stocks had to maneuver through an “infiltration course” of ominous obstacles, stretching from the Eurozone to the Middle East. Yet, when the final bell rang, stocks had edged out gold for the Gold. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 23.31% YTD (vs. up 22.99% YTD a week ago). In comparison, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 18.11% YTD (vs. up 16.66% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 18.67% YTD (vs. up 17.76% YTD a week ago). Another wondrous week for THLD lofted DONS’s portfolio into the Contest lead with a 60.71% YTD gain. BIOJIM’s portfolio, up 48.64% YTD, fell back to second place and, to my amazement, my own portfolio, up 38.46% YTD, moved into third place. At Friday's close, all 38 Contest portfolios remained in the black (with even the bottom portfolio up 5.17% YTD) and 27 of the 38 portfolios were beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week. And, since it’s a quarter end, I’ve posted the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the YTD.
