I've long believed they should set aside .xxx on the web for porn, that way the content can be more easily controlled by parents looking out for the kids best interest.

Some laws and some controls just make common sense.

That's true as it pertains to the making of such things, but once it's been made why would an absolutist view of the 1st amendment provide a reason for objection? Note, that I'm (pretty literally) being a devil's advocate here and I don't favor such an absolutist view.

BTW the SC has ruled that child porn involving animated images that look real is constitutional. I don't think the US is in danger of becoming Saudi Arabia.
