With all due respect, I have no problem with it straying off topic as long as it stays civil. All that investment, options and financial stuff can be kind of dry, so the other stuff keeps it fun. I fully support your position on the way that you have been moderating the board.

Well it wasn't me who complained but I do have some sympathy with that view, because FWIW I do find the percentage of OT posts here somewhat annoying but as a lurker / non contributor I felt it wasnt my place to complain. However as a denizen of multiple other boards on other sites (and a very long time user of SI but not been active recently) I would put forward an opinion that go too off topic too often and you'll end up with a little clique discussing stuff they find funny or amusing but is nothing to do with Apple, and the folks who wanted to pick up some Apple stock knowledge, or contribute some, wil move on elsewhere as they are put off by the closed atmosphere and lack of AAPL stuff. Just sayin ....... :-)

I have contributed to some OT stuff on occasion but I would prefer things to be more on topic. I don't post all that much but I read everything and am amazed sometimes at how many posts I have to get through before I see something that is relevant to investing in Apple. At the same time, I rather enjoy the friendly atmosphere that this board has. I guess it is tough to strike a balance that would satisfy everyone. On topic: Go Apple! Off topic: Go MSU! ;-)

Because of the advance in the AAPL stock price many here have become complaisant. We need to find something to worry about that may upset the apple cart.

OT As long as the conversation is civil and not complete drunken drivel I have no problem with the community or the conversations here. If people are annoyed by the off topic stuff they can alway use the ignore feature which works quite well. Since there is a nuisance clause in the rules and you use it when appropriate my vote is to keep things as they are. If all we ever talked about here was investment stuff this forum wouldn't be very much fun to participate in.
