What a horrible thing to happen. Most people don't realize how foreign Mexico is until they get into a big jackpot down there.

The main difference between Mexico and the US is while corruption happens everywhere it is viewed as normal and acceptable in Mexico.

I know someone that went to the police station in Puerto Vallarta to report his iPad stolen and was arrested and held for 24 hours. He was obviously arrested as a warning to others not to bother reporting crimes.

They really hate it when tourists read the local papers.

Maybe I'm overly suspicious, but I think it's entirely possible Mexico was chosen to woo Mexican-American voters.

What a terrible and tragic thing to happen to your friend and his son and the other two. We can never forget that our American sensibilities stop at our border, and in other countries you are on you own.

I wonder if the State Department had any involvement after that tragedy? It seems as though they should come to the rescue of those poor parents. At the very least, they should demand that those criminally suspicious fees be waived.

Early 80's we would go down there on a Friday night for surf and turf.
