I don't think its far fetched to think that in red states and red regions of blue states, -- if there were a sizeable "justice" protest of a raciially charged situation like the Trayvon Martin murder -- there will be firearms in play by armed rabid Zimmerman types. A Rodney King riot, provoked or not will lead to "stand your ground" rationalized offense as "self defense." Just look at the astounding numbers of weapons and ammo sold since Obama took office, and to whom. It isn't a coincidence, when certain right wing radio hosts bang-the-drums about the need to be prepared to defend the "culture." The Occupy movement is one thing and it brought out overreacting cops, but race will be the trigger of the long simmering tensions and real violence. I say this because I have acquaintances who believe that citizens' second amendment remedies are the inevitable solution to protect our superior white christian heritage from radical black Americans, illegal Mexicans and Sharia Law enabled by Obama. It just takes a spark. I hope cool heads prevail, but these are significant unresolved socio-political tensions that do not look to be calming down in the next couple years.
