Going for single payer doesn't mean getting single payer. Right now even Obamacare wouldn't pass. Single Payer probably wouldn't even pass in today's senate (and will be even less likely to do so after the new congress starts in 2013).

You would have SP now if there had been any conceivable way to enact it.

People are not blind. They see what a mess the government run health insurance organizations are.
