Yeah, that is back-breaking. Most of the people you consider scientists are also academics, so I have covered them also. And you left out the biggest group of liberals, govt bureaucrats. They are liberals, because thay can't handle the alternative. Did you get a PHD? One has to work their ass off and give up a lot to get a PHD degree! If it is so easy why don't more people do it. They make a lot more money and high school graduartes?
