Seems reasonable to me that if Martin felt he was in danger (by being followed), he could "stand his ground" and defend himself. How is he supposed to know the intent of the one following him?

A person purposely following you is a potential threat to you....the person being followed can either ignore the stalker, run away from the stalker, or confront the stalker, ie stand your ground. What would you do in that situation???? I see in your post to TC you acknowledge that you may not know what happened....you're not standing your ground..
