Wow, we are certainly on the same wavelength.

Romney was a 'setup'. The media was naming him as the eventual Republican candidate from the get-go. The MSM has been much more lenient on Romney .... They anointed him from the start as the one who will be the candidate.

Why? Well, I believe it is because the media knows they can successfully knock him out the easiest...

Absolutely! But when Romney has no competition, the gloves will come off.

And yes, Cain and Bachmann were especially targeted because they were members of groups Democrats think they own. After Cain became the frontrunner in the polls, soon every Monday a new charge would appear in the media. It was all carefully orchestrated. To conservatives credit it took a lot to take him out ... not just one bogus harassment charge.

The media seems to know Romney will, somehow, never pose a real threat to the ongoing march to socialism we are presently experiencing, either because he will lose the election, or because he is already "in the bag" for the left.

I believe they think they can knock him out, but they also think even if they can't and worst comes to worst (from their standpoint), he'll roll over. He has a history of doing that .... actually designing Obamacare and actually implementing cap and trade (something Obama and the Dems couldn't do on a federal level).

Excellent post, I would only add conservatives shot themselves in the foot by not deciding on a nominee early enough in the process. One of the reasons I promoted the concept of getting behind Bachmann early. Conservatives let the media manipulate them, by buying into every news cycle hit piece they spouted.

The conservative candidates also put themselves above the need of the country to elect a conservative candidate. Bachmann was the only with enough class to bow out early and allow the Republican party to coalesce around one conservative. I liked Newt a lot, but he and Paul should have exited weeks ago prior to Super Tuesday, when it was obvious they didn't have a chance to win the nomination.

I think the lure of campaign cash has kept the nominees in longer than normal. One or two wealthy individuals can motivate the candidates to stay in, when its obvious the numbers don't add up.
