I'm sure the business has scaled, and obviously the credit card processing fees would be less onerous on a thirteen dollar ebook purchase than on a ninety-nine cent song.

But if Apple were beginning to make a significant profit on content sales, I believe they would have reported that in one of their quarterly calls. I'd like to see one of the analysts on the next call ask about that specifically, to make sure.

My guess is that they are doing better than break-even, but that we're only talking about net percentages in the single digits. If I'm right about that, then my statement that these profits aren't significant are correct, as far as Apple's standards of profitability go.
