Nikkei closing in on 16,000. Down almost 4% at 7:35pm and hasn't hit a bottom and bounced back yet. Guess it will get a little bounce at 16,000!?

Tokyo Stocks Open Higher On LDP Public Fund Use Plan

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--The Tokyo stock market opened
Wednesday higher on news that the ruling Liberal Democratic
Party has drafted plans to use public funds to strengthen
the Deposit Insurance Corp, the industry-funded body which
insures bank deposits.

Traders say the news prompted short-covering after the
plunge in share prices. Tuesday following the failure of
Yamaichi Securities Co. The rise in U.S. stocks Tuesday, as
well as relatively stable Nikkei stock futures during
Chicago trade, have also boosted prices...
