PX,

Ten years of downsizing? What industry are YOU talking about?

The whole of the US, with Kodak being the latest example. CostCo is just an example -- not a whole lot of computer equipment, but only Maxtor drives. If you were in the US and receiving catalogs from a variety of computer stores and saw only adds for Maxtor in the majority, it might make an impression on you. I also left out Egghead. The Egghead catalog at least had WD drives in it, but I believe the Maxtor were less expensive -- which may mean something to someone, the two hdds I have installed were both WD beacuse the boxes I was installing them in (Gateway and Sony) already had WD drives in them. Folks, I'm afraid it's going to get worse before it gets better. My son teaches in Japan. When he left the US two years ago the yen was 80-something to the dollar, now it's 120-something against the dollar, or roughly a 50% reduction. So don't think the Japanese are dumping hdds, it just costs them a lot less to produce them now.

Regards,

Rich
