legalization has to make an argument along the same lines. Oh and no Govt subsistence for life and no Govt subsistence without passing drug tests.

Alcohol abuse prior to Prohibition was far more extensive than marijuana abuse is today, so once Prohibition was enacted, a much larger portion of the population was affected by it. Which is probably the reason we haven't had legalization already.

Most people today just don't care about legalization because they're unaffected by it.

But what marijuana prohibition is doing to society today is just unconscionable in my view. Untold numbers of murders -- many of the victims being teens -- locking people up arbitrarily, destroying lives, encouraging crime, causing increased levels of addiction to other drugs.

Honestly, I look back on when I couldn't see all this (or chose not to) and wonder how I slept at night.
