SDL also hopes to boost sales through strategic market moves such as the acquisition of Mr. Laser, which was announced on November 18.
SDL's fiber lasers, introduced earlier this year, were originally intended for applications in telecommunications. Mr. Laser purchased the fiber
lasers from SDL to serve as the active component in devices for laser material-processing and marking systems, however, which constitute an
estimated $800 million market.
