So, why is anyone (everyone?) buying this stock? If it's not for current earnings? Do you have some theory or insight?

I know why I bought over the past few years, I see an enormous potential for this company's technology and it's intellectual property. I believe it has been seriously mismanaged for several years ... I think the outlook changed for the better shortly after Eric Schmidt was appointed CEO. I'm not expecting immediate returns though ... seems to me that many 'investors' have an expectation of profits within days or weeks ... very few seem willing to wait even months ... and the company told us about 6 months ago that it would probably take up to 3 years to 'restore' the company to it's former leadership position in the marketplace.

Are you planning to hold & wait for the company's 'restoration' or do you think you'll get some decent returns much sooner than that?

Spoken like a true "Value Investor"

Good luck BJP1946 - with that attitude you will need it. Try the horses or Monday night football if you like to gamble the payoffs are better and the bookie is tax free.....

Who Care about earnings - Give me a break.

This thread is garbage once again.....

<The EPS is irrelevant since no one is buying this stock on that basis.>

It went from 9 to 7 on -.04 last March. If you don't believe the numbers have anything to do with the price of stock, you really should see me about that bridge. Such a deal, just for you today.

If Novell hands Wall Street another surprise loss for the third quarter in a row, you'll see a new low in the AM. In this market the short players will be on it so fast your head will spin. Not to mention the panic sellers.

It's one thing to have confidence in an investment after doing careful research, knowing full well the risks involved, but Wall Street is built on the bones of the wishful thinkers.

Don
