That is not what the statistics show if one counts the growth, percentage wise, of welfare recipients (of all races) over the last 50 years and equate that growth to an increase in "deadbeat" Dads. I concede cultural and economic changes also contributed to this, but there's a lot of women "marrying" a welfare check (percentage wise) instead of a man. "For every dead beat dad, there was a dad with MS raising a Michelle Obama. Don't fall for the racism whites love to promulgate. Three hundred years of discrimination and racism would lead to considerable dysfunction in any community. Despite that.........including slavery........the black community has turned out some amazing people."

Three hundred years of discrimination and racism would lead to considerable dysfunction in any community I'm sorry but I see recent waves of immigrants from the Carribean who have more hurdles to success in Florida than any other group given the color of their skin, lack of familiarity with American culture, being frowned upon by native blacks and Creole not exactly the dominant language in business like English or Spanish.. They seem to keep out of trouble, work hard and have strong family values much more so than native blacks.

Well said. People always forget what we have put African Americans through. Slavery, segregation, laws agianst interracial marriage like they are animals.
