I run a diet and wellness center. I constantly try to get people to realize as long as they are eating processed and manufactured food, they may well have a terrible time losing weight and remaining healthy. 10 companies manufacture nearly all our food: (see chart below) One of the main problems with obesity is what kinds of calories are coming in, namely refined sugars and grains, which affect the fat-regulating hormone insulin. Instead of focusing on fad diets which do not work, there should be an effort to change the way foods are processed. I am not particularly hopeful in this regard.
