Dan,

Depending on your Pc you can only put so much memory in the available slots. Usually you have four simm sockets so 16 x 4 equals 64meg total. Go for it since it is free. You have to make sure to get single 16 meg modules for your PC. For a pentium make sure it is at least 60ns EDO.

Some really cheap systems like Packard Bell have memory on board and usually 8 megs so they only leave you with 2 simm sockets. Then you can only add to 16meg modules.

There are also cheap motherboards with the VX chipset and use DIMM and SIMM sockets. You can NOT mix DIMM and SIMM. So if you have DIMM you may have 1,2,4 sockets...stay with it.

If you have Compaq you might be SOL because it could be proprietary...and don't believe they are giving that away.

good luck

Make sure that the 16Mb EDO dram is the type
that your PC can use. There are many many types
of dram. Talk to CompUSA !
When I increased my dram on my P133, I let the
tech people do it.

Dan,

I don't know how you did that update on your existing message but since you have 2x32 SIMM memory. Junk the old two 8meg modules and put in 4 16meg modules.

just make sure they give you 60ns EDO. If you have a choice of brands get MICRON...but I really doubt it is since it is more expensive...probably some cheap Korean memory.<g>

Good Luck
