Do moves like these have anything to say about the viability of
Visigenic's partners now that the technology is being bid for by a tools company ????

fyi, let me get this straight. Are you saying that Netscape and Oracle made their moves only after Borland announced that it intended to buy Visigenic and because they had no desire to license products from Visigenic through Borland?

I was at Kivasoft for a week in September, trying to integrate/use
their software with application software for a client. And I watched
their four video-tape training series. From what I know, I do not see
any threat to VisiBroker business. It only legitimizes enterprise-wide
application development.

I dont know much about Oracle's efforts.

However, the Visibroker segement of the business will be (if not
already) a commodity. I am assuming that Borland already knows
about this, and the purchase is geared towards becoming an instant
front runner and also to get some fresh talent (from Visigenic).
