Median home prices went up way more in the 1970's than the 2000's. Big differences were incomes didn't budge this time and the WS cartel became very creative with new products to make up that gap..

As to differences by regions everything I have ever researched over the years tells me there certainly were only a few MSA's that far exceeded national home prices by the late 1970's or even the late 1960's.. This guy now deceased was buying up Redondo Beach and surrounding areas in prime coastal areas during the 60's when it was quite affordable..
