Median home prices went up way more in the 1970's than the 2000's.

I remember the house I was raised in more than doubled in what seemed like a couple of years about then. Lots of water under that bridge.... can't remember the details.

As to differences by regions everything I have ever researched over the years tells me there certainly were only a few MSA's that far exceeded national home prices by the late 1970's or even the late 1960's.. This guy now deceased was buying up Redondo Beach and surrounding areas in prime coastal areas during the 60's when it was quite affordable..

When I first researched CA numbers, I realized that had you bought a ton of properties in the 1970s by 1990 you would be very rich. But you would have had to sell them by 1990.
