Check again. Dell was not shown as the victor. Only for #3 (of 1-3) did it top HP. Of that 15 points he awarded 8.5 to Dell and 6.5 to HP.

Of factors 4-10 Dell only "won" two, #6 and #8.

And StreetAuthority LLC owns shares of Microsoft.

DELL HP

1 6.5 8.5
2 5.0 7.0
3 8.5 6.5 * (8.5 is greater than 6.5)

= 20.0 22.0

* Factor 3 is a comparison of cash flow yield, not cash flow (which was larger for HP in $ but smaller in %. The numbers for Dell may be distorted for buying Perot Systems. The numbers for HP may be distorted for buying EDS. Or other acquisitions distortions. Or stock buybacks affects on cash flow.

If the distribution of 15 points is 25:15 and based on "a free cash flow yield of more than 25%, which is truly stunning. HP has generated an average of $8.5 billion in free cash flow in each of the past four years, equating to a still impressive 15% free cash flow yield", then Dell should get 9.5 for factor 3 and HP 5.5 (rounded to nearest half point).

Of factors 4-8,

DELL HP

4 4.0 6.0
5 7.0 8.0
6 7.0 6.0
7 5.0 7.0
8 4.5 3.5

= 27.5 30.5

Totals 47.5 52.5
