When humans do it we throw them in jail or execute them.” Nothing to do with our discussion. All animals have different Natures evolved through Evolution. That includes humans. A bear does not inform moral behaviour through the application of Reason, discussion, and Schooling! The point is that as Reasoning beings we have often improved upon how we treat others, as our Experience and Reason showed us where true benefit obtained. (Speaking of bears)... we now know that sending bears to slaughter 42 little kids for laughing is extremely immoral and was put into fiction in order to represent the primitive worship of power and the pertinence of fear to control. We now know that human sacrifice (such as practiced throughout numerous cultures, and most famously exemplified in the Christian example of the Jesus myth) is NOT a benefit to human life and does not control the sun or the rain or give power to change mortality or reality. We now throw humans in jail for a great many things we previously praised them for. _____________________ “What the Nazis did was completely rational and benefited their "group" Genocide is not rational--certainly not in a global community. It destroyed an entire Nation and brought ignominious defeat and death to the perpetrators. The fact that many thought it a benefit just demonstrates that human opinion is variable. Reason shows us that cooperation is the greatest moral attribute of homo sapiens. However, when it excludes other humans it can certainly turn out badly. The philosophical discussion of human morality now focuses on the rights of individuals which brings all of humanity into the "group". This is a huge advance in Reason, Experience, and Evolution. It places the benefits of cooperation at the service and advantage of all humanity. Of course, we still struggle with myriad superstitions abd irrational "believers" who cling to very arbitrary (and often unhealthy) moral values...but Dame REASON is winning the battle! “You're citing arbitrary and relative examples and then asking why not?” You, Greggy, are TOO STUPID to understand what is being discussed. People CAN accuse others of wrong doing. Your 35,000 Christian sects accuse one another of wrongdoing every day! People formulate laws and regulations and behavioural guidelines in order to benefit the group they value and benefit from. Families often have very different moral values than the larger culture. And one need only read the Republican or Liberal spews against one another to see that they have very different ideas of right and wrong! LOL! And YOU have admitted you believe in human sacrifice! You have even praised it! How ignorant and misguided is that? And you think I am incapable of criticising you?? DONKEY!!
