Agreed. None of us really move enough. I run 2-3 times a week and try to walk another 1 or 2. However, all day long most days I sit in front of my computer at work. I read somewhere that our body was designed for constant motion and that even if we exercise every morning, the problem is that we sit around the rest of the day. So all that sitting isn't good for you.

I went to the local pool the other day with my neighbor to sit around and relax and another neighbor strolled over with a soda in his hand. Now get this. That soda bottle was about 1 gallon. I asked him what the hell was that and he said he bought it at some store and it cost him 99 cents to refill it. I just shook my head and told him to put me in his will. Needless to say that friend of mine is grossly obese and has heart trouble. Go figure.

Somehow somewhere, I think Americans have lost our way. I feel like all of this has its root causes in something deeper. Everywhere around me I see people who feel like they can have their cake and eat it too. They don't want to feel pain or work too hard. They want the good life and they want to come by it easily. Somehow, everyone has forgotten that hard work is a virtue and nothing in life is free. There's always a price to pay. But we've forgotten that. We've become fat and lazy and feel we're entitled to everything and don't want to pay for it.

But as with obesity, we're going to pay for it....one way or another.
