Yeah, if you ignore Ben Nelson, Lieberman and others who were in the pockets of various industries, state lobbies, the Jewish lobby or at the mercy of red state electorates.

Obama never had a 60 vote senate majority that he could rely upon without serious compromise on sensitive issues.

And he was too naive to understand that he had to play hardball or he'd lose. Ed
