Jim, I believe that you can have a LT gain on the calls if they are covered by the underlying shares and you let the shares be called. The call premium is added to proceeds and the gain is LT if the holding period for the shares qualifies as LT.

Hi Jim,

If your boat does come in, I would suggest talking to a tax professional that is very familiar with options trading.
