Also, these are stateless terrorists we're trying to kill. Diplomats deal with states, not criminals. The military generally deals with other countries militaries, not criminals. Bush adapted the military clumsily to do so, through invasions, where Obama has been more efficient and selective, with drones and small unit hits.

I think the final means of dealing with stateless terrorists hasn't been arrived at yet. Maybe the CIA should do it.

<<And you know our tactics with drones are effective---we've taken out the top 3 Al Qeuda leaders in the last year. That's why they, through their unofficial supporter, Pakistan, are screaming bloody murder about it. >>

People need to realize the equation here. No matter how many Al Qeuda we take out there will be 10 to replace them. Osama is a hero on large portions of the muslm world. Their numbers are infinite.

We are fighting an infinite war and not realizing it. It is not winnable. The military often doesn't realize stuff like that.

So if an action is not winnable a smart person will take another approach. We need to get out of there and deal with the crazies from a well fortified country and engage in precision efforts where necessary.

If we get out of there it reduces us as a target as well. Out of sight out of mind.
