Considering that you can set the tile sizes to double or quad in the new screen, the density of tiles is your choice in WP >= 7.8.

W.R.T software, IMO developers will generally target their software to reach the most users and the software is forward compatible. So I don't see any great software divide in the near future. Undoubtedly, after it comes out in the fourth quarter, WP8 will start getting titles specific to it eventually; after all WP8 allows native code.

Kind of inside baseball to most cell phone purchasers though... I'm not sure the average buyer is especially aware or concerned that in 6 months, Microsoft will release a native code compiler for Windows phone, and that 6 months after that, you may not be able to get the latest first-person shooter that requires a 12-axis accelerometer a four core Snapdragon processor that wasn't in your original phone.

Yes, this would matter to me. Which sucks, because I didn't win the Nokia phone last night (I did get a $25 coupon for WP central), and I'd kill to have one of those drool-worthy Nokia Lumia 900s in cyan or white.
