This is not an anomaly. Cities across the nation cannot afford the retirement benefits promised to their retired employees. And the people who made the promises and didn't fund them are long gone. And many of these irresponsible bastards actually have statues in their towns to their memories.

What a freaking mess. What can you do for the retirees? Hand over the keys to the bankrupt city? You can't raise real estate taxes. People are abandoning their houses who can't afford to pay their taxes now.

Cities are falling into decay because every dime that comes in goes to retiree benefits.

Speaking of later today --Thursday--wonder who Obama will throw under the bus today...with everything that will be going on, he could pull off something pretty substantial, and no one would notice.....he's had lots of practice doing that!
