I agree that back in the day it was the norm. But it hasn't been for some time- and I think the people who violate the norm of restraining from physical aggression with children often have something wrong with them. I assume the study was on younger people, who grew up when it was not the norm to hit children- otherwise it would not have been much of a study.

My parents often told me that they didn't ENJOY spanking me, but that it was their DUTY, as parents.
