I'm definitely not arguing one should spank one's children. I am, however, arguing against the notion that parents who spank their kids are somehow psychologically damaged. If the culture says raising children calls for it, that charge goes against the culture rather than the individual parent.

Ditto for any psychic damage caused to the child.
