I don't know very much about arbitrage.....what I have learned is incomplete....I don't understand the thinking behind shorting the acquirer and going long the acquired.....and I don't understand to what proportion these positions should be taken......I have found that it is those situations that I don't understand that cost me the most money!

I like WCOM a lot......I have owned the company and have made a lot of money from that ownership....I am currently out of the stock because I am using my money to make a bigger return elsewhere at the moment.....However, I see myself getting back in somewhere in the next few weeks to possibly as long as 2 months...My thinking is somewhat foggy on whether buying MCIC would be a better play at this late date or not....any ideas would be greatly appreciated.....also any ideas on how I can educate myself on the thinking and strategies of arbitrage would also be appreciated....

Thanks in Advance

Tim

USWIC US WATTS Inc. is being acquired by ACCC for 2.5 and it's
selling a little under 2.. Teleport buying ACCC has sort of
overshadowed this deal..the percent gain as of Friday close would
be ~ 30%..the transaction complete date is hoped for in first
quarter....big mutuals don't get involved in small plays like
this..when VTEL bought Compression Labs..that percent gain spread
was also very high...
