FYI jerk.......when Dinkins came into office, Jan 1, 1990 the murder rate in NYC had hit its highest point in history, ie 2245 a year..... When Dinkins left office, after 4 years, the murder rate was down to 1300 per year. You're off by a year. It was 2245 in 1990.......Dinkins first year in office. Dinkins won the Nov 1989 election. It was about 2150 in 1991 and 2000 in 1992 and about 1940 in 1993......Dinkins last year in office. Dinkin's four years in office corresponded to the 4 highest yearly murder totals in NYC history by far.. Under Rudy, it dropped to about 1600 in 1994, about 1150 in 1995 about 990 in 1996.to about 770 in 1997. It leveled off to between 600 and 700 in Rudy's second term. en.wikipedia.org
