You're fantasizing about some mythical cornucopia of free stuff the federal government will give you. Your state sends more to Washington than it gets back because incomes and costs of living are high there. Raising the taxes your high income folks pay will just send more of your states money to Washington. You still don't get the basic concept of why CA taxpayers send so much money to Washington.
