Indeed, that is interesting and off to a reasonable start. But the crucial thing wrong with his idea is that tradable citizenships should not be merely traded, but should be a more regular financial asset, with a price fixed to it. Fixed by open bidding. Prices have to be "discovered" in the jargon. Swapping citizenships is not the same thing at all, though of course there could be cash or other additions to cover the difference.

People should be able to own multiple citizenships.

That's about the first time I've seen anyone actually express the idea that the current archaic systems of state serfdom might not actually be the best way of running the planet. Some of what he wrote makes it look as though he has read some of my rants about it. Maybe I should have patented the idea. Since people have such difficulty understanding the idea, it's obviously not "obvious" which would preclude a patent. I could have charged a royalty for each tradable citizenship issued.

PS: The idea of passports is a joke too. The internet has been around for a while now. A person's identity is carried with them in the form of their iris, fingerprints, voice, facial features, signature, not to mention DNA, PIN and whatnot. There's no need to carry a stupid little book. Border control people could just ask your name, that would get the data about you, which would confirm your identity and any relevant information such as "Shoot the blighter on sight" or "Give them VIP treatment".

A lot of rich Canadians revoke their citizenship to avoid taxes.
