the markets are forward looking, like 6 months forward, they see Obama losing. If they think he will win the markets will crash. Will that help him ?

Just as when it became apparent Obama would win in '08 the entire economy collapsed, as it becomes evident Romney will win in '12 the economy will begin to rebound unless the economic headwinds are just so strong the positive sentiment can't overcome it.
