Aggghhh, never mind. Even with good information, I still don't think I'll be able to press the confirm button for a purchase of APM shares.

Dan, I would also appreciate it if someone would give Crisman a ring. This GMR issue is interesting. I laughed at Gary when I first read his idiotic post. But the Veeco shipment is no one's opinion!

I'm trying to think of who the 3 US companies are. I figure one is likely to be IBM. RDRT I think is unlikely because they are now commited to MR and unlikely to jump to GMR this quick. QNTM, SEG and APM are the only ones left. I hope APM is one of them. I have no doubt the company will survive, but a jump to GMR would be interesting to watch play out.

I would add one question to the list of questions. It is whether APM plans to continue its 1.7 GB TFI production. If no (or yes, but on a smaller scale), then ask how this will affect the time frame of MR ramp.

It would also be great to know if they have any new contract wins. Even if they did, I doubt they would make a press release out of it (they didn't do this even with the WDC ones). That is why we need to get it out of Crisman. Even if we can't get the company, it would be comforting just to know they still have some source of revenue! I would also be interested in knowing who they are in qualification stages with.

Just my $.02

Brian

I thought everyone here was pretty much out of APM by now.

Just to add one more voice to the crowd, I can refer you all to at least a couple of reports of conversations with Crisman. Check post 1975 of the Applied Magnetics thread, and post 6747 of this thread. The latter was right before the end of the disastrous last quarter. There were several more, but I did not keep a record of all of them.

If you decide to call CC, maybe these and the other earlier conversations will give you a better blueprint of what to ask. He won't answer some key questions, such as yields and I think sales volume. But it seems he does answer questions about percentage of different types of heads, timetables for new head technology, and program qualifications with customers.

I just assumed that no one here would trust CC. But more information is almost always better than less. And, I don't think there is any reason to elect one rep to make a call (unless you are pressed for time). He seems to take or return all calls, and it may be useful for you all to compare notes.

Anyway, just my 2 cents, which may not be worth much now that I am out.
