Tomas / Barrington

I agree, in my opinion I think BPL is a bargain, very solid company.

I don't have all the numbers at my fingertips (I'm sure Kerm does though), however these thought come to my ;

1 - BPL recently completed an share issue at $ 6.00 and they have a strong balance sheet
2 - 1997 has been very good on the exploration side, some major new pool finds, which have led to an expanded capital program for 97 & planned 98.
3 - gas and oil mix (not sure on %) good cashflow, etc..

I think the downside is 90% over, I can't see going too much lower, then again I've bring wrong before.

In closing, if your intentions are long term buy now and hold and forget about timing, it rarely works that you can time a stock buy/sale perfectly.

If I find time I'll do some number crunching (unless Kerm beats me to it).

Cheers and good investing

Tomas / Sector bottoming out?

Close, but not quite. The market probably will continue to carry the oil producers lower. Too many negative influences at this time. We need to see some stablization in oil prices. If you are an investor in for the longer haul, there are companies whose shares are attractive at this time. If you are a trader, I believe it's too early to jump in the oils. The most opportune timing to evaluate these companies and potential share appreciation will be in Feb. and March.
