Louis....how did you get CNBC in the hospital ?!?!

Actually, I think both common and preferred have a dividend, the difference being that the preferred is fixed in price. From the point of a dividend, the common might actually be a better deal...but I'm far from certain about that.

I don't actually understand why there should be shorting of the preferred, though...(sigh.) Nor do I understand Doug's explanation of the pricing differential between the common and the preferred. So I'd be really happy if someone could help me out...

Louis...I'm not without a modem...just PCMCIA slots...there are those old-fashioned serial ports, though...thru which I run my _very_ nice wireless modem (but which requires certain geographical areas, so I couldn't use in Annapolis :-().
