Cheryl Galt:

My, my, you sure know how to ruin a holiday weekend. By my count, LGND's close was lower than its open on 11 of the last 13 trading days, and the volume analysis is just as depressing: up only 5 of the 19 days with volume over 200K in your data base.

I'm sure I speak for few on the board when I say thanks for the poop and the perspective.

Looks like a bottom to me. I am willing to bet a bottle of TD's wine that we do not reach twelve, too many bears in the forest.

HI Cheryl!
When you read older post of mine on this thread than you would find out that i know that the trend is down. At that point i agreed with tonyt about this fact. I don't care if he or you are bearish about the stock. You might be right. But what i do care about is mispresentation
like tonyt's statement about continous selling of big blocks. He gave a nice intraday statistic (where do have that from tony? is it a free site?) which showed in my opinion no sign of one sided selling of large blocks. Yes i know that the trend is down...i don't have Alzheimers and remember that the stock was sometimes higher(what were you asking?;-)). The question is: did "das Boot" hit the ocean ground yet? or do we sink lower?

Stefan

<<RE Trend Analysis. IMO, if you look too hard at Intra-day trading, you can miss the FOREST for the TREES. All this hair-splitting about whether individual trades are buys or sells looks irrelevant to me. Who cares??>>

Who cares? Options traders. People who live within a dollar or 2 of a margin call. Short sellers.

In other words, weak hands. Long term investors pay scant attention to such dips, unless they are accompanied by bad news about the company. It seems that the posters here who are bearish never seem to be able to state any negatives about the company itself. They appear not to be very familiar with the company, only the price. That's too bad, because I, for one would like to hear any of the company-related concerns they might have. It also explains why they get rather rough treatment by some of the other posters. That also is too bad, because everyone should be welcome here.

The other problem is that they disappear from the thread whenever the price rises for a few days. I can't explain that one at all--it seems to harm their credibility that much more.

As for your forest::looks like almost a straight line down. I usually look for a reason for that. Haven't found one with Ligand, which indicates to me an eventual straight line up is also possible. Probably to 25 by the end of December.

If anyone who has been really down on the stock would like to research it:::It's a biotech development company, NASDAQ symbol LGND, full name: Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The company is located in San Diego, CA.

Hope I didn't lose anyone's attention by going too fast.

Cheryl, I have started reading The Ligand Thread from post number 1. Only Roy (post 3), Kenneth (post 50) and Andreas (post 51) Have more history posting to the Ligand thread than yourself ! (post 53).

I have a comment on the price and stock trading commentary from an historical point of view. I find it useful. Reading without benefit of the trading value at the time seems to leave out an important element. I can open an historical chart but it seems useful to have the data available in the post.....perhaps as a footnote.

SI continues to add useful features. Perhaps some trading stats could be added at the base of each post electronically representing the conditions at the time of the post. This would not add to the volume of the posts but would add value.

POST FROM THE PAST--497

I think we will see 12 before 20.

Could Tonyt and Evan be the same person??

Re: Intraday Blather

IMO, if you look too hard at Intra-day trading, you can miss the
FOREST for the TREES.

This is an important point. Frankly, both bulls and bears have used intraday action as an excuse to step in front of moving trains (both up and down on LGND). It's a useless, and not entirely harmless, diversion.

Can't wait to see how a certain person twists this one around.
