You idiot..........I clearly stated that it had one of the smallest gov't deficits. I wasn't talking about the personal indebtedness of the Spaniards.
Try not to run away from your original point, "Spain was one of the strongest economies when the recession started."

Mel already poked a gigantic hole in that assertion, and you respond by hanging onto a distinction without a difference.

You can dance around this, but you continue to ignore the fact that Spain experienced a massive construction bubble that allowed the Socialist government to live beyond its means. When the recession started, the bills were due and there was nowhere to hide.
