First of all, Journalism is supposed to REPORT the News, not put their OWN spin on it, UNLESS it is actually an Op-Ed and noted as such. They are NOT supposed to OMIT the news because "they don't like whatever that news is"....

If an article has someone's name on it, it belongs on the Op-Ed page, NOT on the front page, or even in the front section of the paper.

IF the owner of the publication wants everyone to have their name on the piece, it is an OPINION Journal.....NOT news.

Re your comment: I could never listen long to Limbaugh, or Beck or Lawrence Odonnel (sp?) on msnbc. Too many times they're stretching hard to get 2+2 to equal something other than 4 and I just can't nod my head with the sheep. None of us should. Ed

Too bad for you. You then have a slanted (your version of the truth or reality). I would have thought someone as smart as you are would want to know more about what you perceive as "the enemy".... Most of us here read articles, and sometimes post them, that we don't agree with so that everyone can see 'another view of things and make up their own mind'.....

Has it every occurred to you to wonder at the reason Rush has more than 15-20 Million listeners each day? His reputation is on the line every time he opens his mouth. If he states something from some one else, he documents where he saw/heard it.....if he comments on something else, it is his OPINION..... People in his business guard their reputations carefully, or should.....MSNBC folks are an exception to that rule....evidently they don't care if they are wrong....it's their schtick, and idiots who watch are just that....idiots.

LB has let you post here so far because you have been polite and not throwing vitrol at every turn. This is a very different place from what you are used to at the Center.....Who knows .....maybe we will learn something from you, and oh horrors, you might even learn something worthwhile from this group.....

And to go to your point as something written by a person who said "our media is always sympathetic to America's enemies".......

Can you find us continuing examples of anyone in the MSM Left that DOESN'T do that?

Return from whence you came. Perhaps your BS detector can use a little tune up and then check into the title of the thread over there. ;-)

Media Bias....We all talk about it...Newsbusters shows both the Right and Left where they were each wrong if there is faulty info out there.....Ed, you might want to check this Link out....Here's an example.... both of bias, and shows one of the reasons many citizens are ill informed. Note the Minutes (out of 3 days) each....versus the actual UNINTERUPTED coverage on PBS and C-Span.....

NBC Donates 25 Percent More Airtime to DNC Than RNC

By Scott Whitlock | September 11, 2012 | 14:55

If journalists were interested in fairness, there's nothing more basic than giving a similar amount of airtime to each major party convention. An MRC analysis finds that's exactly what CBS and ABC did, giving virtually identical airtime to the Republican and Democratic conventions on their morning and evening news shows.

But NBC skewed in favor of the Democrats, donating 25 percent more coverage to the Democratic National Convention (121 minutes) than they did the previous week's Republican convention (97 minutes). Most of the disparity is accounted for by the Today show, which gave 30 percent more coverage to the Democrats (87 minutes vs. 67 minutes), although the NBC Nightly News also favored the Democrats, albeit by a slighter margin (34 to 30 minutes).

In contrast, ABC and CBS gave nearly matching amounts of coverage to the two parties. CBS gave the Republicans 163 minutes of total airtime, vs. 161 for the Democrats; ABC gave 73 minutes to the Republicans vs. 72 minutes for the Democrats. In both cases, the difference amounts to barely one percent.

On August 30th, Matt Lauer touted the President's campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, and her dismissal of Paul Ryan's speech: "[She] said, 'Forty minutes of vitriol and half a dozen previously debunked attacks.'"

Today co-host Savannah Guthrie teased an interview with Paul Ryan by pushing "criticism that he's played fast and loose with the truth."

The very same Guthrie offered up a softball interview to Democratic convention speaker Elizabeth Warren, wondering, "Is it your job here, as you understand it, to argue that Mitt Romney is the personification of that Wall Street greed and excess?"

On August 29th, Today panelist Donny Deutsch panned GOP speaker Chris Christie as a " bully."

The journalists of Today were much more thrilled with Democratic speakers. On September 6, guest David Gregory gushed over Bill Clinton: "Bill Clinton simply owned the room here, stayed longer than he was supposed to, but nobody seemed to mind....it was an appearance that was the height of political stagecraft."

Even Joe Scarborough, who is supposed to represent the right on NBC and MSNBC, appeared on the September 7 Today to gloat that the Democratic convention creamed the GOP like Muhammad Ali's victory over a little-known boxer.

On September 5, Chuck Todd appeared on Today to marvel that Michelle Obama "had a hold on the delegates in this hall in a way that no speaker was able to do in Tampa."

ABC and CBS provided no contrast when it came to the time devoted to the conventions. CBS offered 161 minutes for the Democrats and slightly more for the Republicans, 163 minutes.

ABC showed the least interest in the conventions, a mere 72 minutes for the Democrats and 73 for the Republicans. CBS more than doubled the convention totals of ABC.

Good Morning America's convention coverage would often feature six to seven minutes recapping the previous night and that would be it. The supposedly serious news show would then move to crime, fashion or promoting the latest ABC entertainment program.

When George Stephanopoulos joined GMA in December of 2009, the AP insisted that ABC would be shifting towards more serious coverage: "[Stephanopoulos'] selection coincides with a mission by 'GMA' to shift more toward harder news, particularly in the show's first 45 minutes..."

Clearly, that has not happened.

However, it is NBC that stands out the most, both in the amount of coverage and the hostility towards the Republican speakers.

This analysis looked at the morning and evening newscasts of all three networks. This included Today, NBC Nightly News, CBS This Morning, the CBS Evening News, Good Morning America and World News. The dates included were August 27-31 and September 3-7.

Thanks to MRC analysts Matt Balan and Kyle Drennen and intern Jeffrey Meyer for their assistance.

Not showing jumpers on 9/11/01 when we didn't know what would follow, was appropriate to not encourage copycat behavior away from the crash sites.

I could never listen long to Limbaugh, or Beck or Lawrence Odonnel (sp?) on msnbc

They make a living selling their opinion. The NYT, WaPo, and the Nets claim to be making their living by selling us the news. It's "apples and oranges" to compare the two.

The way the MSM controls the news is by spiking or slanting what they don't like. I post article after article here showing what they really do. Survey after survey of media people show they are 80 to 90% Liberals. You say they don't spike and slant? Give me a break!

Your critical process is deeply flawed. Every study conducted on "Big Media" have confirmed a significant liberal bias. It's not even a question anymore, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNBC, and other television outlets are nothing more than promoters of the hard left Democratic party.

The same is true regarding professors in higher education.

Your ideas about republicans are based on what you've heard your democrat peers and the MSM say over the years, and like all the rest of the liberal lemmings of the world you've believed every word you've ever heard.

I'll bet you've never even once bothered to question their statements.

Doesn't it bother you that you have such narrow vision, and lack the ability to be skeptical? Doesn't it bother you that you have such a hateful and malevolent opinion of at least 1/2 of your fellow Americans? How do you ever expect to solve the serious problems that plague our nation when you irresponsibly label and stereotype the very people you need?

Then you come to LBs thread acting like you want an adult conversation, all the while hiding your true beliefs and running like a child when they are finally revealed. I was enjoying reading the dialogue, but am happy you decided to split the scene. If there's one thing conservatives can't stand, it's people with hidden agendas.

Call me a meany and a bully, but in my mind I know I'm a realist and accept the fact that there are millions of people who have a stake in this country and that we don't all think alike or always agree. I know it takes sitting down and talking through ideas, and that sometimes those talks are painful, but that if people persist and get beyond preconceived notions, real solutions can be found. Anything is possible, but you have to start out believing that the people you are dealing with care as much about the problems and wish just as much as you do that as a nation we can work out our differences and move forward.

IOW there has to be trust.

It is impossible to do that when a person is full the kind of BS perceptions that you harbor.

Come back when you grow up and want a real conversation.
