After all is said and done, did you oppose the Patriot Act? I did. Because it has the potential for misuse. But it also has the potential for increasing our collective security. So it is a fine balance and a judgement call. As a professional who is valued here in the US (they let me immigrate), I know well that goals are achieved with a realistic approach instead of a die hard ideological approach. People associate that phrase "diehard ideo...." with right wing extremists. I would tend to classify all those folks in your post similar to those approach even though I would never even label them as right wing extremists.

In this age, only those nations that are flexible and agile enough to keep pace with the evolving societal factors due to forces such as technology etc. will survive. Even core principle need to be modified if not abandoned.
"Right to bear arms" is the poster child of what I am saying. And there are many others.

And lastly, like your forbears who brought strengths to this community during their times, I do to do not have to jump in a flow with the tide. Like them, people like me continue to bring the best of all cultures. And only a country like America is privileged to be benefiting from that. And talk such as the phrase you use puts this country years backwards.

And one last word. And this from a naturalized American. "Nobody forced me to come here. I came here of my own free will. Not as a refugee (though I do not look down on refugees). I came here because I thought that I have something to contribute and the country agreed with me. I contributed, I got rewarded, I am one like many on thsi thread who feel an obligation to give back to this community. But be it told: Since no one forced me to come here, no one even you with such despicable comments can force me to leave This is as much as my country as it is yours"

I am sure that almost all of the posters here share my view.

Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy post. Now let us put this behind us and move on to the thread topic.
