It is the "mindset of the fanatic, mindset of the tyrant" to respond to an insult to one's religion with violence, Rushdie told host Steve Inskeep. "To murder people who had nothing to do with it," he added, is a "deeply uncivilized attitude.""Something has gone wrong inside the Muslim world," Rushdie continued. Just a few decades ago, he said, major cities in the Arab and Muslim world were outward-looking. But "in the last half century, these cultures seem to have slid backwards into medievalism and represssion. ... It is one of the great self-inflicted wounds."

Look........MM, I have very little respect for religious zealots on either side of the fence. If I were a Jew or a Catholic or a Christian or a Muslim, I would not be proud of the 'rich' heritage all of those religions have..........a heritage 'rich' in torture, killings, thievery and discrimination.

So I am not happy with the scum video that that jackass produce made nor am I pleased with the response of some Muslims. Then again, I am not in love with the way evangelicals operate in this country nor the way Catholic priests thought molesting little boys was a contact sport. Western religion leaves a pretty bad taste in mouth so I tend to stay away.
