>Hey-I just saw an interesting thing on the tube about some Texas initative to replace elementary school textbooks with lap-tops. What is so interesting about that? They kept showing stacks of these funky little, hey, it's got an apple on it... it's Emates! On national tv!

Just a few years ago I took a heap o' Education classes- one was on Textbook Analysis. Texas is a big deal- they buy enough books to swing the educational market in funny directions.

What's the deal on Emates? I am trying to get my hands on one to play with (one of the perqs of working at a college). The Emate board at apple is pretty amateurish, presently.

The Texans was talkin' one per kid, at $500/unit. (!)
