That could explain why these markets are so weak during this time period, e.g., those ex dividend events...

Are you sure it is dividends rather than making shapes from clouds?
Getting past the Q3 dividend plunge this week. Lot's of selling pressure created by all the ex dividend moves at the end of September. Sets the market up for a nice rally in October.
I use stockcharts.com for my TA and they show the prices adjusted for dividends so it "should not" matter..... but I guess there could be some dislocations short term until the data is adjusted. Is there something else I haven't considered?
