Our transportation people hate anything that is not mass transit.
I'd love nothing more than a efficient alternative to driving to any of the Colorado ski slopes on any winter Colorado weekend!

Our transportation people hate anything that is not mass transit. We are building a monstrosity rail system .....
Reading the robo car discussion, if the technology is for real - and it seems to be - it has the potential of disrupting all our concepts about transportation, both mass and private. Great numbers of fuel efficient vehicles, running fast and safe and clean.... Fares ranging from less expensive - in mini buses - to more costly in private units. Everything fast, efficient, programmable.... Who would ever be interested in any new improved big 19 century trains? They may make sense between Kyoto and Tokyo, but hardly ever in the US....

We were constantly being funneled down to one lane, or stopped so work could proceed on road construction projects in every state we drove through last month. There's a huge project going on right down the road from me. Several millions of stimulus dollars are being spent on upgrading our nation's highways.
