we have term limits in California.

That must be on the state level......

We seem to be getting the worst of both worlds...... amateurs at state legislator and the entrenched radicals at the federal level...... and hardly an adult in the wings....

If it wasn't for the weather here I'd have been gone long ago.....

They don't know anything about governing and only go there to get whatever is on their personal agenda - knowing that they'll be leaving in 4 years.

"In June 2012 voters approved Proposition 28 [5] which allows legislators to serve a maximum of 12 years without regard to whether the years are served in the State Assembly or the State Senate. Legislators first elected on or before June 5, 2012 are restricted by the previous term limits, approved in 1990, which limited legislators to three terms in the State Assembly and two terms in the State Senate."

Does this clip from Wiki imply that Proposition 28 will be on the ballot in the November 2012 election? Or is this now passed and already effective as state law?

Whatever the situation, it's probably an iffy question whether longer terms would make any difference in the governance in California anyway. It's a damned shame what's happened to your state. Probably like a lot of kids, growing up I always had this impression of its being the land of milk and honey.
